A new year and a new outlook

2025 is upon and with it comes a new outlook to what will happen this year. Needless to say there is a bit of uncertainty in the global coffee market with regards to potential tariffs being excised on various coffees. As the only US state that grows coffee is Hawaii, and getting green beans from Hawaii is already quite cost prohibitive, any tariffs will undoubtedly affect the pricing to come. Add to that the issues near Yemen causing many coffee shipments to deter around the horn of Africa which result it much higher shipping costs, we could see a tumultuous year in the markets. We are keeping a careful eye on these conditions and will try to restrain cost increases by looking to other origins that offer the same high quality green (raw) coffee beans and the variety of flavor profiles that we offer.

Current and upcoming coffees

The holidays took a bit hit on our coffee inventory and we are in the process of rebuilding our stocks (as you can see from the small set of offerings here on the website). Currently we have a light and fruited beans from Ethiopia and Colombia, some medium roasts from Brazil, Guatemala, and soon Costa Rica, and our darker roasts are represented by a new crop from Sumatra and our espresso blend. We are trying to add a new coffee every 2-3 weeks to rebuild our stock — each bean I get needs to be profiled (in a good way) and the proper roast curve determined to bring out the full potential of a crop.
